RX-78 SD Came Out To Play

Since I had no plans this morning, I decided to bring one of my Gunplas out for a photo shoot. When I picked RX-78NT-1 Alex SD, he was damn excited.

Once we reached out destination, he immediately climbed up a tree. Never knew he was a tree climber.



This tough guy even dared to point his BOWA·Norfolk XBR-L Type-3 beam rifle at me... tsk tsk tsk.



After a while, he decided to come down and play on the ground.



And since there were so many flowers on the ground, he then told me he wanted to lie down on the bed of dunno-what-flowers. I obligingly followed him... To my surprise, RX-78NT-1 has a weird fetish, he likes to put a flower between his stumpy legs when he is resting.

Ok, enough of fooling around, it's time to get back to business. He pulled out the flower and decided to use it as his prop for his photoshoot.

With a flower in one hand, and a sword in another, he whispered to me that he is ready to go see his sweetheart and propose to her. With a heavy heart, I let him go... Hoping that one day, he will come back to me with his partner and his little ones. All the best RX-78NT-1 Alex!

Mitsubishi Lancer Test Drive

Jimisar Autotrade Sdn Bhd. launched it's Mitsubishi 3S centre last weekend. Located at Lot 5364, Block 16, KCLD, Jalan Sherif Masahor (opposite Jalan Hup Kee), the new 3S showroom is one of the most prominent motor showrooms in Kuching.

Me and my sidekick, Allen went to visit this showroom. Partly I also wanted to test drive the not so new Mitsubishi Lancer.

The impressive showroom features customer friendly facilities such as spacious showroom, customer lounge with free WiFi connection and Astro, discussion corner, fully equipped service center and dedicated delivery bay (which was still being painted when we were there last weekend), all designed for customer comfort and convenience.



And during the 4 days promo period, they also set up a driving simulator for interested customers and their kids to hone their driving skills.

Ok, back to Lancer. The Mitsubishi Lancer that we get here in Malaysia is the CBU version, in other words it's directly imported from Japan. So the version that we have here is definitely same as the ones Japanese drive on their roads! Cool?

Actually the Lancer comes in two variation, the GLS version and the sportier GT version. According to the brochure and spec sheet, the only difference between the two variations are the GT comes with 18" alloy rims, black leather interior, "badder" spoiler.



I only got to test-drive the GLS version as the GT version is only for display purposes in the showroom.



But nonetheless I enjoyed myself throughout the brief but sweet test drive session (which only lasted 3 minutes). The sales officer who entertained us told me that due to some company policy, the pre-determined test drive route is between the BDC and Hui Sing Garden roundabouts. I was a little hesitant when I maneuvered out of the premise of the showroom, but once I got past the first roundabout... hahaha...the devil in me surfaced.

Down with the accelerator and going through the shift paddles were FUN! Well to say it's fun would be an understatement. Exhilarating is the more appropriate word. Before I knew it, I was up to 150km/h. Despite all that, I do feel that the car a little heavy overall and could improve on the handling. As I was busy driving, Allen who sat beside me snapped away with his 50D.

I would definitely prefer the GT version compared to the GLS version but the price difference between these 2 variants is a whopping RM8500. Well, the extras in the GT does not justify that extra money we have to pay to get it. So I think I will just settle for the GLS version (that is if I can afford to get one at all).

For the time being, I will just have to settle with this

Bako National Park - Part 1

Was suppose to publish this much earlier but you know la...bz this,bz that....

Recently I have been actively indulging myself in outdoor activities. They just came fast and quick, which resulted to my being more tanned. But being tanned is a good thing, no? Last Saturday, me and my colleagues and friends went to Bako National Park.



At first I thought Bako National Park is located on an island, but from the map above you can see clearly that it's part of Sarawak mainland. :) Drove up to Kampung Bako at around 9am. Reached there after a 30 minutes drive. After registering at the Park's reception counter, we hopped into a speedboat and headed straight to Bako National Park.

Ah... we were greeted by our first boulder. The unique thing about Bako NAtional Park is that it's filled with this arrays of magnificent rocks. If you stand real close to it, you can actually see the lines of on it which gives you some idea how long it took for it to be formed... well, a couple of millions of years I guess.

After we had alighted from the speedboat (which was about 20 mins from the jetty), we headed straight to the information counter to ask for advice from the park ranger regarding the trails to take. Since it was already 10:30am, the ranger suggested that we should take the Teluk Paku (Gulf of Paku) and maybe the Pantai Pandan trails.

At the start of Teluk Paku trail. Our major objective was to spot some Proboscis monkeys because according to reliable sources, this trail actually leads to where most of the monkeys stay. We walked and walked...

Rock Climbing....Again

Thursday morning was just perfect for any outdoor activities. The sky was blue, the breeze was mild, even the palm trees look nice, don't they? Roy invited me to go to Fairy's cave to break my wall-climbing duck, which I jumped to accept. This time around we had Asang (the ever helpful Indonesian climber), Alex (seasoned climber who also happens to be my colleague who sometimes cycles to work, kid you not!) and Carol (Alex's gf) as company.

I do wonder how this wall or other walls are formed in such away that there's actually a ceiling underneath the wall. Someone please tell me...
